Sustainability
Why our toothpicks are "green"
The Zunder toothpicks are not only stylish, but also sustainable! The environment is very important to us. That’s why we use wood, a renewable raw material that is produced responsibly.
FSC certified wood
We only use FSC-certified birch wood from Europe for our production. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is a globally recognized certification for sustainably managed forests. The FSC seal guarantees that the wood comes from forests that are managed in accordance with strict environmental and social standards. In this way, FSC makes an important contribution to sustainability and the protection of our forests worldwide. The use of this wood in products supports the preservation of forests and contributes to climate protection.
We protect 1m2 of rainforest for every pack
To do our bit for the environment, Zunder has been working with Worldlandtrust for many years. The World Land Trust (WLT) is an international environmental organization that focuses on the protection of endangered ecosystems and biodiversity. The WLT collects donations to buy or lease threatened areas around the world. This protects these areas from deforestation, land use changes and other dangers. For every pack of toothpicks sold, Zunder saves 1m2 of rainforest.
Production in social workshop
The toothpicks have been produced in a small social workshop in Switzerland since 2015. Regional production is very important to us in order to protect the environment. Regional products generally have a shorter supply chain and are not transported over long distances. This reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions associated with transportation. This can also have a positive effect on the quality of the product.
